In efforts to reach more fans of high-performance vehicles, Chrysler is gearing up for an SRT high-performance tour that will show off for vehicles in its new 2012 lineup and demonstrate why the company’s vehicles get the SRT trim title, which stands for Street and Racing Technololgy, a new Chysler brand to compete with the fastest offerings of other auto makers. The tour includes many venues all around the country, and runs from August to November. Like other previous vehicle tours, Chrysler will start the show off in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The end of the tour will be in November at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas.
Vehicles involved in this mobile showcase include the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 and the Dodge Challenger SRT8, two fast cars with impressive engine blocks and new technology for the road. There’s also the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and the Chrysler 300 SRT sedan. Staffers will drive these cars from town to town, accompanied by video displays and other attractions, like giveaways. At each stop, the company will present their new offerings to the public and take questions.
All of these vehicles carry the 6.4 L V-8 Hemi engine that we reported on last week, for 470 hp that will send these models screaming up the road, with all four models going 0-60 in about four seconds, according to the manufacturer. Other items, like brakes and suspension, will also display cutting edge engineering and a lot of the new technology that gets put into luxury cars and high-performance vehicles in today’s market. With this kind of power and high design, the SRT road tour promises to be quite a show. Those who are thinking about actually getting their hands on one of these high powered rides for 2012 can show up at tour stops and ask questions about future pricing and financing, or wait until later in the year when these numbers start to get talked about at local lots. For customers who live near one of these spots on Chrysler’s tour, the road show could be a way to get a pre-test drive look at some of the fastest models available in 2012.
