Toyota FJ Cruiser
The Toyota FJ Cruiser combines utilitarian style with Toyota’s legendary off-road abilities. The name FJ Cruiser is pay homage to Toyota’s FJ-40 Land Cruisers from the 1960’s, which were small off-road oriented SUVs.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser is based on the Tacoma pickup, and shares its 4.0 Liter V6 engine and transmission choices. Two or four-wheel drive configurations are available. FJ Cruisers with four-wheel drive can have either a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. Two-wheel drive models are automatic only.
Toyota offers a TRD package for its FJ Cruiser which adds heavy duty Bilstein shocks, more armor for the undercarriage, a new intake and exhaust, and off-road tires for buyers who plan on using the FJ Cruiser for high speed off-road maneuvers. The Trail Teams Special Edition includes similar modifications aimed toward rock-crawling.
