Jeep Commander
The Jeep Commander was released in 2006. The Commander's boxy styling is a throwback to the Jeep Wagoneer and Cherokee. The Commander seats seven, and features a raised second and third row of seats. The Jeep Commander's boxy design makes its interior much roomier than the Grand Cherokee, even though it is just 3 inches longer. Jeep's largest SUV offers the 'Trail Rated' off-road prowess that Jeep is famous for.
The Jeep Commander is available with three different engines, a 3.7 liter V6 with 210 hp, a 4.7 liter V8 with 305 hp and a 5.7 liter Hemi V8 with 389 hp. All three engines are rated at 19 highway mpg. The Hemi features cylinder deactivation, which lets it run on just four cylinders when eight aren't needed.
The Jeep Commander is available in Sport, Sport U package, Limited and Overland models. Limited and Overland models feature a more advanced 4WD system that can route 100% of the engine's power to a single wheel to maximize traction.
