In the mid to late 90's, you might remember the commercials featuring Paul Hogan, advertising the Subaru Outback in rugged Australian settings as "the world's first sport utility wagon".

Known for AWD being standard in all of their vehicles, Subaru's models are great alternatives to big, massive SUV's.

Subaru is a division of Fuji Heavy Industries and started in 1953. Subaru is named after a Japanese word that means unite, as well as for the Pleiades (the Seven Sisters) group of stars, which shows six stars, one much brighter than the rest. The Subaru logo reflects that group of stars and has five small stars with one larger star.

For 2009 and 2010, Subaru offers the Forester, Legacy Outback, Legacy sedan and Tribeca SUV. The Subaru Impreza line includes the standard sedan and wagon, but also features the Impreza Outback Sport and the high performance WRX and WRX STi.
