Mitsubishi has announced pricing on the 2014 MiEV and the electric car’s starting price will drop by over $6,000 this year. The new starting price for the 2014 Mitsubishi MiEV will be just $16,345 after the federal tax credit. That puts the MiEV in a much better place to compete with standard small cars and should help sales.
The 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV’s price drop doesn’t come at the expense of any features and will actually include more creature comforts than the 2013 model. The 2014 i-MiEV will come with heated front seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, fog lights, a quick charge CHAdeMO port, heated side mirrors, a battery warmer and rear speakers.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV isn’t the only electric car to get a price cut this year as the technology behind EVs gets cheaper to produce. The electric-powered and gas assisted Chevy Volt will get a $5,000 price cut for this year. The Prius Plug-In hybrid will get a $2,000 price drop this year as well.
